I have led and or worked on 14 large Transdisciplinary Design Studio Projects and Design Storms for global companies that have included Nestlé, HP Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Nissan-Infiniti, Ford Global, Bissell, Acer Computers, Avery Dennison and many more.

Transdisciplinary Projects integrate designers from different disciplines to work together to propose new innovative conceptual solutions to challenging problems. Teams of designers that I have personally led have been integrated together from graphic design, product design, transportation design, environmental design, and advertising design disciplines.

Here is a brief look into some of the results.

Nestlé / The Buitoni Experience

Acted as the lead along with Rob Ball on this transdisciplinary sponsored project to create a new vision for Buitoni, a brand of fresh pasta with a 150 year history. Focus was on Buitoni’s primary packaging and visions of a new in-store experience. Directed a large group of design students from graphic design, product design, and environmental design. Worked directly with Gordon Lane, the head of packaging innovations at Nestlé global.

Team Ravioli’s proposal for Buitoni.

Flexible packaging features custom die cut edges on stand up pouches inspired by ravioli pasta. Graphics resonate the feeling of boiling water relating to the cooking process. A custom point-of-purchase display was developed showing a fresh identity for Buitoni. Also included is a creative touch-point featuring custom made soft ravioli cushions that evoke a memorable connection with the consumer.
